Los Angeles FC acquired defender Yevhen Cheberko from the Columbus Crew on Tuesday in exchange for a 2026 international roster slot.
The 28-year-old Ukrainian international will be added to the LAFC roster after the MLS secondary transfer window opens July 13.
Cheberko has recorded one goal and one assist in 94 appearances across all competitions since joining Columbus in 2023 from Croatian side NK Osijek. He helped the Crew win the 2023 MLS Cup and 2024 Leagues Cup.
'Yevhen is a proven MLS defender with the versatility, technical quality and experience to strengthen our back line,' said LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington. 'He has competed at a high level throughout his career and understands what it takes to win. We are excited to welcome Yevhen to LAFC and believe he will be an important contributor as we continue competing for trophies on multiple fronts this season.'
LAFC will return from the World Cup break on July 17 with an away match against the rival Los Angeles Galaxy.
