Quality Control (QC) Sports, the sister company of Quality Control Music, recently announced the launch of a new baseball agency division. Founders Kevin Lee and Pierre Thomas (AKA Coach K and P) are excited to partner with Charisse Dash, an 18-year veteran on the business side of Major League Baseball (MLB). She brings with her stellar negotiation skills, unparalleled insight, and a wealth of agency experience.
Quality Control Music is a label and management company known for signing some of the hottest artists today, including Migos and Lil' Yachty. However, the QC brand extends to far more than music. As the company readies itself to launch a global empire, it's taking on new partners and initiatives. The baseball division integrates well with the brand and allows the company more influence in the wider world of sports.
Charisse Dash fits in perfectly with this vision. Said Coach K, "Partnering with a strong woman of color with the experience, credibility, proven track record and commitment to clients that Charisse has is perfectly aligned with the QC brand and what P and I have built."
This is a rapidly expanding sports enterprise that needs a qualified leader at the helm. Dash is known for her experience with the MLB's front offices, players, and the union. She's one of the very few women certified as an MLB agent and a bona fide industry insider.
In 2020, she set a record with her negotiation for White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada. Her negotiation for his contract extension was the highest ever in the history of the MLB struck by a female agent of color. Moncada will make $14 million over the next five seasons, a handsome sum for his talents. Of all signed extensions for players with two to three years left on their contracts, only Mike Trout, Buster Posey, and Alex Bregman will receive a higher annual average value.
Dash's other high-profile clients include Robert Puason and Pedro Strop of the Chicago Cubs. Part of the reason for her success is more than just her professional demeanor, Charisse has a personal approach to relationships, and her commitment to her roster is clear. Strop said, "Charisse is a woman with tremendous character, experience and dedication to her job. She is an amazing human being."
She's thrilled to bring her expertise to this venture. "I am excited and honored to be part of such an authentic and special brand as QC. But mostly, I am ready to get to work and continue to build on the legacy that P and Coach have built. The entire QC family has been amazing, and I am humbled by the level of professionalism and commitment everyone brings to the QC movement every day."
Charisse Dash graduated from the NY School of Law cum laude and has worked with both the international and domestic draft. She's signed players from an array of places such as Cuba, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. She has a proven, stellar track record in free agency contract and salary arbitration negotiations, and she brings that no-nonsense style to QC Sports.
Dash will be joined by fellow MLB certified agent Alex Cotto, with 15 years of experience working in the front offices of the Mets, Yankees, and Braves. He's known for his success in player development, operations, and international scouting. Of his role, Cotto remarked, "It is a pleasure to be part of the Quality Control Family. The QC Brand is leading all aspects of business in its ability to bring the culture of the world. I am extremely proud to be part of it."
About QC Sports
QC Sports was founded in 2019 as a division of QC Music, founded by CEO Pierre Thomas and COO Kevin Lee. The two credit their management style in the music industry to their love of sports, so it was only a matter of time before they would branch out. These executives believe that their company is a team, and they treat every staff member and partner as the valued addition they are. The company currently represents Alvin Kamara of the Saints and draft pick D'Andre Swift of the Lions, among many others.
