The quarterfinals of the 2021 Gold Cup will be played at AT&T Stadium, Arlington Texas on Sunday between the United States and Jamaica.
The USMNT sailed through the group stage as Group B leaders, but head coach Gregg Berhalter was not impressed. Even though Major League Soccer players such as Gianluca Busio or Daryl Dike displayed their potential and capacity, Berhalter expected more from his senior team going into the tournament.
Jamaica on the other side won against Suriname and Guadalupe before losing to Costa Rica in the Gold Cup's first real challenge. After advancing to the next round without major injuries, the Caribbean nation has an advantage over the United States and a fully-fit squad for Sunday's match.

USMNT has been impressive with its 'backup' team, winning all three group stage games. The Americans have struggled to defeat the opposition without a huge talent gap. Gregg Berhalter's team will likely have trouble against a Jamaican unit that is relatively strong, but they will eventually become more creative.
The USA was famously defeated by Jamaica 2-1 in 2015 Gold Cup. But this team is different. Andre Blake and Leon Bailey are both great talents in key positions. But Jamaica will need to push the Americans to the limit in the midfield.

After a 1-0 win over Canada, the United States men's team won the group stage. Shaq Moore scored a record-breaking goal 20 seconds into the match to take the lead.
Although Berhalter won the tournament's opening matches, not many players impressed him and showed a special ability. As the young MLS players try to attract international attention, Daryl Dike and Gianluca Busio are the ones to be on the lookout for.
The American side suffered several injuries in the tournament's group stage. Walker Zimmerman was injured and then the team lost him to a hamstring strain that lasted the entire Gold Cup. To replace the injured, Henry Kessler from New England Revolution and Cade Cowell of San Jose Earthquakes will be joining the team.

Although they may be considered underdogs in the match against the USA, the Reggae Boyz are not to be underestimated. The Jamaican national team dominated the group stage's first two matches, beating Suriname and Guadalupe, before losing to Costa Rica.
The Jamaican side has not reported any injuries and should be able to field a fully fit team against the United States on Sunday.
USA: Turner; Cannon, Sands, Robinson, Vines: Busio, Acosta, Lletget; Gioacchini, Zardes, Hoppe.
Jamaica: Barnes, Fisher, Lowe and Mariappa Lawrence; Turgott; Williams, Williams, Johnson, Magee and Flemings.
The United States is dominating Jamaica as Reggae Boyz attempt to avenge their 3-1 loss in the 2019 Gold Cup semifinals. The Caribbean side has not been able to beat the American side. They lost again in 2017 when Jordan Morris, a USMNT player, scored an 89-minute winner that sealed the game at 2-1. Their rich history with the Gold Cup dates back to 2005, when they defeated Jamaica twice in quarter finals.
It is not expected to be a game with few goals. Although the United States will score, Jamaica will try to attack and not retreat to defend early on.
predictionUSA 3-1 Jamaica
It was far from the prettiest of group stage performances, but the Americans came out atop Group B and are set to face Jamaica in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals on Sunday night in Arlington, TX.
Suriname and Guadeloupe were defeated by the Reggae Boyz, who then fell to Costa Rica for second place in Group B. delahoyatv However, these guys are known for their ability to win in this tournament. They are sure to be a tough opponent.
This is especially true when Gregg Berhalter's men were struggling against weaker competitors in the group stage. A single early goal was all the USMNT could muster in an otherwise disappointing group stage finale against Canada. Walker Zimmerman, their captain, was injured in his hamstring.
There have been many glimpses of quality in the Gold Cup so far, but can the Yanks pull it off and make it to the final?
