SANTIAGO, Chile - As part of its plans to expand its sole data center in Latin America, Google has decided to pour in millions into the project.
According to the tech giant, its expansion plans will see the company's Chile-based data center tripling in size.
Google said in its announcement that it will invest $140 million to expand the data center which represents its second stage of growth.
The data center is based in Quilicura, near Santiago and became fully operational in 2015.
Google said in its announcement that the new investment will triple the data centers size to 11.2 hectares (27.7 acres).
Further, the project is set to create over 1,000 new jobs in the construction process and 120 new permanent jobs.
