Jay Carney says 'Obama focused on policy, not questions about his faith'

California Telegraph (ANI) Wednesday 22nd February, 2012

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has said that President Barack Obama is focused on policy and helping the middle class, and not questions raised by Republican candidate Rick Santorum and Christian evangelist Franklin Graham, over his faith.

"I did meet with the president this morning, and amazingly, he didn't bring this up," Politico quoted Carney, as saying.

"This president is focused on doing the things that he believes the American people elected him to do," he added.

Former US Senator Santorum recently said that Obama is guided by 'some phony ideal, some phony theology.'

He later said he was referring to Obama's ties to environmentalism, but a spokesperson on MSNBC misspoke and said he was referring to Obama's ties to Islam.

Controversial pastor Graham said on Tuesday that he was not sure that Obama was a Christian, but that he 'assumed' it was true. (ANI)
